It's time to grow up Tiger

I don't know why people are defending Tiger Woods like he's the victim. This man cheated on his wife with probably more than one woman. I can understand giving him his privacy...when he's in his house or in the bathroom. You have to understand that being famous means you have no privacy when you are in the range of a camera. Everyone loves being famous when things are good and your life is going according to planned. But then you start keeping secrets and telling lies and you're surprised when the media finds out?! If you are one of the most famous people on the planet, filthy rich, and you're young and attractive then women want to have sex with you. Is it so hard to believe that when a cocktail waitress has sex with Tiger Woods that she won't be able to keep it a secret? She doesn't want to keep it a secret. Of she did then she wouldn't have kept the voicemails and text messages. Everyone wants to be famous. Some people find a way to do it by sleeping with celebrities. I don't feel sorry for Tiger's loss of privacy. It's something you signed up for when you became a celebrity. Comes with the territory people and he can have privacy when he's at home. Not when he's laying on the ground outside his escalade after running into a tree at 2:15 in the morning. He knew one day these things would come out. Quit trying to say "oh he doesn't deserve this". Well I bet you would think your brother n law deserved it if he cheated on your sister. Or your stepdad if he cheated on your mom. This man cheated on his wife not his girlfriend. Quit being so sensitive.

The Limbaugh Rams?

Rush Limbaugh is part of a group of wealthy investors wanting to purchase the St. Louis Rams. He's not the main guy, just one of the investors but that doesn't matter. There are plenty of sportswriters, liberal media members, and of course, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who are all opposed to this. They don't believe he deserves to be part owner of an NFL team because of a comment he made about Donovan McNabb in 2003. He said McNabb was overrated because the media only wanted to see a black quarterback succeed. That comment is what the roar is about. I can look at that comment and take from it that he was looking at a situation and giving an honest opinion. I don't see in that comment that he hates black people. I don't see that he hates McNabb. People can argue whether it is appropriate for tv or not but should that keep an extremely successful and business savvy guy from being a part owner of a team? Let's look at it this way: Rush has a ton of money and wants to PAY FOR an ownership role in this franchise. Pac man Jones GOT PAID to get arrested 6 times and leave a man paralyzed for life because of a disagreement in a strip club. Mike Vick (who I thought SHOULD get a second chance) got that chance after lying to his team owner, teammates, federal agents, and the league about dog fighting. Ricky Williams got back into the league after a ton of marijuana incidents. Now why shouldn't Rush be allowed to buy part of a team? He's not asking for a spot on NFL sunday countdown again so he can make some comment that people don't agree with. Roger Gooddell is completely against it. He won't have Limbaugh owning a team in his league even though he has given multiple chances to players after breaking the law or making terrible decisions. Al Sharpton doesn't think he should be allowed to purchase a portion of the team because obviously he's a racist and wouldn't work well with the two thirds of the players that are black. Jesse Jackson thinks that Rush's comments should disqualified from being a part owner for this comment. that's the same Jesse Jackson who wanted to cut Obama's nuts off...remember that? and the same Al Sharpton who was made famous by the Tawana Brawley hoax. Give me a break. I think that if this man has brought himself into a position to have the kind of money and business knowledge to buy a team then he should be allowed. I mean the NFL doesn't believe in second chances...right pac man? right williams? right vick?

I Was Way Off!

I thought I didn't like Obama as president because he grew up with such a racist, radical pastor. Because he was in so deep with Acorn during the campaign. Because he changed his mind on investigating our CIA for using force to get information from terrorists. Because he wanted a public healthcare option to cripple 1/6 of our economy. Because he signed the largest spending bill in the history of our country and couldn't even tell us where all the money was going. Because he forced out the CEO of an American auto company and put his own appointee in the position. Because he shakes hands and gets reading advice from Hugo Chavez. Because he is taking missle defenses away from our most loyal allies. Because he appointed a communist to be in charge of green jobs. Because he granted a position with the power to regulate the pay of wall street CEOs to a person who thinks animals should be able to sue people. Because he wants to shut down guantanamo bay and send those religious fanatical terrorists to American prisons with regular criminals and among our citizens. Because he spent billions but did nothing to stop the rate at which Americans were filing for unemployment. Because he has spent more time on television than in the oval office. Because he's given more speeches then days he's been in office. But then Jimmy Carter told me it was just because he was black. I don't know what I was thinking.

Why Isn't Weed Legal?

If I hear one more ignorant person say "they won't legalize weed cuz they can't tax it" I might just start calling them names. Where did people get that theory? If weed was legal then that means there would be private industry producing and selling it. There would be a sales tax on that just like there is on alcohol. I think what they are talking about is if someone were to grow their own then the government couldn't tax that. Well first of all if you did grow your own they wouldn't tax it but legally you couldn't sell it. Legally you can't sell alcohol without a permit. But even if you did grow your own how many people would? If you haven't noticed we live in a society that is obsessed with being lazy. How many people do you think are going to risk breaking the law by buying it from someone or take the weeks it would take to grow their own when they can run down to the gas station and buy it and get high right then? How many more people would be exposed to this drug once it's legal? Don't you think that more people are going to try it under the impression that since it's legal it's not as harmful they thought? Another reason I don't believe they will legalize it is one of the same reasons gambling isn't legal everywhere: think of the lives it could ruin. How many people would be getting high and driving? How many people would be robbed or hurt by someone who doesn't want to buy it from the store? How many underage people would have it? You can say "well young people have it now and they aren't supposed to so what?" but there are less drug dealers in this country than there are gas stations. The whole point is that why would you legalize something that has more negatives than positives? Can anyone tell me a positive from legalizing weed other than the money that will be made from it? I say putting more of a drug in circulation leads to more crime, more intoxicated drivers, and more lazy people. Just think about things for a while before you say something like "they can't tax it" because that's just crazy.

I Can Actually Think For Myself

Why is it that every time I express a view in political matters someone thinks that I'm just a huge fox news fan that doesn't think for himself. Let me say that I absolutely love the Glenn Beck program and I think that he is a very intelligent man. Anyone who has seen his show in the last 3 or 4 months can walk away from it saying that they may not agree with his opinions but you cannot deny the facts that he puts forth. When I start to talk to someone about what's going on in the political world today or the events in this country someone has to say that I'm either ignorant republican or I just repeat what I hear on Fox. Whatever happened to just being conservative and having conservative views? Bill O'riely says things that I don't agree with and I don't always think Rush Limbaugh is right. I have watched other programs like NBC and MSNBC and even HLN and you can't get anything out of those programs. They will only cover national and presidential matters for a short time. When they do cover it they only show the light side of it and not the whole truth. They never show video of people disagreeing. They do however let newly seated senators get on and completely ridicule and demean Sarah Palin and Ms. America. Fox has never let a senator come on and completely dismantle the president. There are things that are happening that I don't agree with and I can talk about because I am educated on those matters. I'm not the smartest person but at least I pay attention and try to learn new things before I form an opinion.

We are spending tons of money. We just allocated 2 billion dollars to brazil to drill for oil off shore when we won't do it here. Democrats have said they will try to pass healthcare reform with reconciliation if they can't get one republican vote. That's an old tactic of splitting up the bill so you only need 51 votes. The congressional budget office has already shown that we can't pay for the healthcare bill by cutting medicare or any other way for that matter. We fall more into debt every second and congressman are just now starting to come around to the fact that we actually expect them to read the bills they pass. We have that stimulus package worth almost 800 billion that we were told we would be able to monitor and see where those funds are going. Can anyone find that? I doubt it. I hope everyone is paying attention and that we can get things changed fast because we are falling at a record pace and may not know it until it's too late.

Straight Forward View Of Public Healthcare Option

I understand that it is unfortunate when people are not covered by an insurance company because of a pre-existing condition. I also disagree that companies should be able to drop coverage because of a new condition or sickness that arises in a paying customer. Our government wants to pass a reform that does a number of things:

1. create a public, government run option with multiple choices for multiple prices.
2. prevent companies from denying coverage for a pre-existing condition.
3. prevent companies from dropping a person's coverage when a new condition arises.
4. require companies to cover all routine procedures such as colonoscopies, regular check ups and the rest of the everyday things that they may not cover now.

Now this all sounds good if those things fit in your category but we need to look past our initial reaction to really think about what this means and what consequences passing this bill would have. If you force an insurance company to cover all routine procedures that they do not cover now it will force them to raise prices to cover these new expenses. That means for all of us Americans like myself who pay each month for our health insurance or get it for a lowered price through our employer that our price will be increased. Another thing that will raise the price is when a company can't deny someone coverage when that person is going to be a client that requires that company to pay more than usual expenses. Saying you can't deny me health insurance for a pre-existing condition is like saying you can't deny me car insurance because of a past accident or DUI. More people who are going to cost a company more money means that company has to raise it's prices. That is a fact. I wish everyone could have healthcare but it's not possible.

Now to creating a public option. It would be a choice of coverage plans at different prices, which would have to be lower than any private company offers now in order to be more affordable. What happens when the government can give you healthcare coverage at a much lower rate than a private company who was just forced to raise their prices because of new coverage rules? Obviously that private company would be run out of business. I can't imagine a way they could stay functional unless they cut huge numbers of employees which would increase our national unployment by hoardes since we are talking about a huge industry. Less people working would have a negative effect on our economy. And if you think that our government doesn't want to phase out private insurers think again. In 2003 our now president said at an SEIU conference he was "a proponent of a single payer healthcare option" even though today he said "I haven't said I want a single payer system" and in 2007 he said he'd like to see us eliminating private insurers in 10, 15, or 20 years.

If these companies are going out of business or raising their prices then people will be forced to drop their now expensive coverage and join the government plan. Now this government plan is run by the government, not by business men who have been running the actual medical coverage industry for decades. Now that the insurance companies are losing customers or employees or shutting down all together there are still going to be plenty of people who still can't afford insurance even on the government plan. How will we cover them? Raise prices or taxes on those who can afford it to cover the ones that can't? Offer a near free option with the same coverage for people who don't make enough money? That wouldn't be fair to the people who are paying more for the same option. We have to understand that we can't have different prices for the same things just because someone is poor and someone isn't. Maybe we should put more time and effort into finding everyone a job. I don't believe there is a way to offer healthcare to the entire nation while being fair to everyone and not completely eliminating the private healthcare sector. I would love to hear any ideas that wouldn't raise prices or cut jobs. By the way there was a recent rasmussen poll done that showed out of the some 46 million americans with no insurance, 43% of those could afford it and chose not to purchase it.

If you want to read the bill that is being proposed then google House Resolution 3200 or HR 3200. You'll find out that it is extremely long and has a lot of "sections" and "subsections". It looks like an unbelievably long tax form.

Take Some Responsibility as a Parent

I'm reading the news paper and there's a story in here about a high school principal's wife, who is also the school counselor, having sex with a student of that school. Says she gave the student alcohol and weed and had sex with him (not all at the same time I don't think). The student was of legal age so it can't be considered rape and he said that he initiated sex with the counselor. Now of course the mother of the student is upset and wants there to be as many charges pressed against the woman as possible. She wants to see her charged with rape even though her son is the legal age and said he initiated the sex. Now I'm not supporting what the counselor did by any means. She has a husband, she's a school employee, and she provided a minor with illegal substances but this kid's mother is putting all the blame on the teacher and not the kid who's old enough to know what he's doing. Why don't you take time to bd upset at the counselor but also think about the job you did raising that kid. I mean he does drink and do drugs and have sex with older women. Maybe you could have taught him better as a child and this never would have happened. That's just our problem. Everyone wants to pawn off their responsibility on anyone else. Take some blame yourself mom. You gave this kid the opportunity to initiate sex with a faculty member and probably never even talked with him about drugs and alcohol. The counselor deserves consequences for what she did but if I were that judge, I'd put that kid's mom in a damn parenting class.

Go To Town Hall Meetings!

I like seeing the turn outs at these town hall meetings being held by Democratic members of congress. They call it their listening tour and that's what the people are there to make sure they do. The crowd reactions really show that the people of this country are educated about current events and that they realize sometimes they only way to get your voice heard is to yell! I wish they would host a meeting close to my area because I would be at the front of the line. The bad part of all this is that the members of congress aren't just listening and taking the constructive criticism. They are attacking and trying to brush off informed, concerned Americans as "fringe groups" or "angry mobs". These aren't people who have been sitting around waiting for their moment to get back at the Democrats because they didn't win the election. These are real people with real jobs and real ideas. They may not know how to operate a congress or be qualified to run for political office but they do know what they want from the elected officials that work for them. They know how they want their lives to be and what decisions should be made. Nothing is more irritating then some political official telling a single American citizen that they don't know what's good for themselves. Do what you were elected to do and listen to the people who are missing work, crowding into these meetings trying to get their voice heard. Don't dismiss them as planted protesters. One that's kinda funny is that a congressman has scheduled his next town hall meeting at a childrens' hospital and sent out an email saying how inappropriate it would be to use loud voices inside. Nice way to try and quiet your constituents. The same people who can't even read the bills they vote on because they are "too long" and take up too much time to read are telling us that they know what's best for us. That's ridiculous and I hope those officials know that they can ignore this country and pass this huge healthcare reform bill but they will notice that the people aren't happy when they aren't re-elected. If anyone does go to one of these meetings then please voice your opinion. Don't be rude or inappropriate but be firm and don't let them take your voice away. We are just as important as the politicians that sign and vote on these bills.

My UFC 101 Picks

Ok to all my UFC fan friends...here are my picks so Eddie bring on your comments!
btw I have no idea who the favorites are to win or what kind of odds are out so if I'm way off base then oh well. Whatever here it is.

Starting with the co-main event, Anderson Silva taking on Forrest Griffin. Forrest is really good standing up and can take a beating while Silva is also a very dangerous striker but some doubt his ground game. I think Silva's ground game is doubted because he rarely has to use it. my pick is Silva. He's faster, more elusive, and I think his striking is better than that of Griffin. Even though Silva's last fight was hard to watch and drug along till the decision, this one will be over in the 2nd! That's right i said it...they'll stop the fight in the second.

Now B.J. Penn vs. Kenny Florian is gonna be a good one...for the first few minutes. Florian is good and I like his jiu-jitsu but B.J. might just be too good. Kenflo won't get to use those dangerous elbows because B.J. won't find himself in many helpless situations. I think Penn does a lot of stick-and-moving and takes advantage of Kenflo's take down attempts for some nice counters. I think B.J. will submit him in the third but it will be a good fight up until that very moment.

I believe Amir Sadollah loses via split decision to Johny Hendricks. I think Hendricks is probably a better striker and neither have a really impressive ground game from what I've read.

Kendall Grove is going to demolish Ricardo Almeida with some crazy high kick or nasty elbow combination. I do not expect that one to go to decision.

Josh Neer has lost 2 of his last 3 fights to the Diaz brothers which are 2 really good fighters. I think Kurt Pellegrino's ground game wins the fight though. Pellegrino via submission (possibly triangle choke).

George Sotiropoulos will win in a unanimous decision against George Roop. Giving it to Sotiropoulos for his experience since Roop has been to decision in his last two UFC fights.

Thales Leites wins by TKO over Alessio Sakara even though I think Leites should be ashamed of his last "fight" against Silva. But Sakara is 4-4 in his last 8 fights. Not that impressive.

Hottest Coach Right Now Yes But Best?...Not Quite

I will say this again because my gator fan friend is killing me with this Urban Meyer talk. He just signed an extension and now makes like 4mil a year. He is the hottest (not looks wise you pervs) coach in college football right now and he has the hottest player in the NCAA. He has an impressive record and two national championships in the last three years. He coaches in what many agree to be the hardest and most competitive conference in college football, but could there be someone with a more impressive resume? Someone who coaches another national powerhouse and not some mountain west or sun belt team? I think there is and his name is Pete Carroll. Here are some stats courtesy of usctrojans.com: He's been at USC his entire 8 year career and has a winning percentage of 85.4% at 88-15. That's the best of any coach in D-I with at least 5 years of experience including Meyer at 83-17. Only him and Bob Pruett have that many wins in their first 8 years since 1900. In his 15 losses, only 1 was by more than a touchdown...ONLY 1!!! He's never lost a game in November. Meyer has won 4 total conference championships between the mountain west and the SEC, while Carroll has won 7 conference championships in a row. He's been in 7 straight BCS bowls in his 8 year career. He's 32-7 against AP top 25 teams. He's won at least 11 games a year for the past 7 years. He had USC ranked No.1 for 33 straight polls. He and Meyer have both won 2 national championships but Carroll did it two years in a row and lost in his 3rd straight national championship game by 3 points. Now I'm not a fan of the trojans and I'll say that Urban Meyer is currently the hottest coach in the NCAA but I won't be so ignorant as to say that he is the best in the game. Use the whole SEC vs. Pac 10 arguement and USC doesn't have a lot of competition if you want but you don't go to 3 straight national championships and win 2 if you aren't that good no matter what conference you're in. I mean Ohio St. wins their conference a lot and is usually ranked high but they get blown out in the big games. Meyer has an impressive record but he simply has not done as much as Carroll in the last 8 years.

Oh yea, Carroll was also named coach of the decade this year by Lindy's.

Cash For Clunkers

There are plenty of opinions about the Cash for Clunkers program. Now here's mine. I think the program as it is doesn't service the American Economy as well as it could. In fact there are some definite negatives. It has taken on more transactions than it could handle and has dealers' requests backed up to the point that some are sending things through three or four times with no response. Plus it takes a while to determine a "clunker". Sure the commercial says 1984 or newer, has to get certain gas mileage but there is a 136 page booklet of requirements that must be met. Now getting people to buy new cars and bring business into car dealerships is a positive for the auto industry, or should I say the new car industry. While this program does help sell new cars, it deals a blow to the used car industry which is where most dealers make most of their money anyway. It's taking all these used cars, of which most are perfectly good, running cars, and removes them from the market all together. Think of how many people can't afford a new car and would find one in the "clunkers" that are being destroyed. Also think of the revenue it's taking away from the dealers that could resale those "clunkers" to someone who isn't in the new car market. Another thing is that the parts from the "clunkers" can only be sold for up to six months after the date of trade. That is hurting the used parts companies and wreckers that get to demolish the cars but then can't sell the parts for more than six months. The final problem I have with this program is that the engine must be completely disabled by draining all the oil and filling the engine with sodium silicate which will render the motor permanently unusable. That same motor is then sold to China. They take that metal and resource and manufacture their own products which we are going to buy from them in the form of something else in the future and believe me, we are not going to settle our debt to China by selling them used car engines. I think they are using the green movement to promote this when our biggest problem is our own economy. Sure this program is taking cars off the road which don't get impressive gas mileage but it's such a small percentage that it won't have an impact on the global warming myth that everyone is freaking out about. Besides, you can trade in a car or truck under this program for something that gets just 4 more miles per gallon. Now there's a lot of people who traded in their old car which was paid off for a new lexus in which they couldn't afford without this $4500 rebate. How many of those people do you think will still be making the payments once they lose their job or some small unexpected expense comes up? Seems similar to when we gave people loans on homes that they couldn't afford if the rate changed (which it did). But who cares about that since these loans aren't for $200,000 plus. The dealers won't feel the sting when that happens but the banks that hold the titles to those autos will. Sounds like the Government is doing nothing but giving away more free money to add to our astronomical debt and taking perfectly good used cars off the market at the same time. The only thing that the success of this program proves is that the American people like getting free money. It's still not clear if this program will get another 2 billion dollars to continue since it did run out of money in less than a week but i'm hoping it doesn't. Let's not get overly excited about some program with a ton of stupid rules which did so "well" that it ran out of money early. Success is going to be judged by the effects this program has on the next 5-7 years.

The Next Bear Bryant?

Urban Meyer is a great coach but to hear an ignorant Florida fan call him the next Bear Bryant is ridiculous. I guess that gator fan doesn't have a clue as to what Bryant accomplished over his career. This man gave Kentucky their first bowl win, their first sec championship, their first co-national championship, and went on to beat #1 ranked oklahoma. He then went to texas a&m and won the southwest conference championship, had his first heisman trophy winner in John David Crow and finished with an overall record of 25-14-2. Then he came to the university of alabama and won the national championship in his second season. In 25 seasons he won 6 national championships and 13 sec championships. This man retired tied for most wins by a college coach. Now Meyer has had an impressive resume but let's be realistic. He has had a heisman winner and runner up at the quarterback position for both of his national championships. Not to mention he has been successful during the down years of both Miami and Florida state who were both national championship contenders year in and year out when Spurrier was there and Spurrier still won a national title. He led Utah to an undefeated season with wins over teams like utah state, air force, new mexico, north carolina, san diego state, and unlv just to name a few. Pittsburgh was the only nationally ranked team they played and they were ranked 20th. Meyer could turn out to be one of the top 5 greatest football coaches of all time but to say that he is even close to the same level as Paul Bear Bryant is just some cocky fan who wants to ruffle the feathers of some alabama fans. It's a ridiculous statement and I hope for the sake of the entire florida fan base that there's not many people who agree with him.

Favre? Really?

I do believe that I could really go my entire life without hearing about Brett Favre not being able to make his mind up about playing football for someone. It's easy to feel like you still got it when you're tossing bombs to high school kids in your cargo shorts but don't be fooled, he's old and he shows it half way through the season, just ask the jets. Not only that but didn't Thomas Jones say Favre cost them some games? That's a lot coming from your star running back. Don't get me wrong, he's a hall of famer with the great numbers and a super bowl ring in two appearances but give us a break Brett. You held the Packers hostage for so many years, kept Arron Rogers from becoming the starter for those many years and influenced every draft move the packers made while you couldn't make your mind up. Finally you say you're retiring then change your mind and the Favre vs. the Pack soap opera ensues. Just retire already. Enough is enough. Do the vikings really need him so bad that they would give him 10 million bucks to play for a year? Tom Brady makes 10 million a year and he's won multiple superbowls and had an undefeated season, arguably the best quarterback of all time...arguably. Brad Childress, listen to me...Brett Favre is too old to lead your young team to a super bowl and why would you want to mix all that young talent up with some old veteran who's not gonna be there next year? Instill some stability. Sign a talented free agent or even better you could sign Mike Vick. I know, Vick has never been a great passing quarterback and never put up unbelievable numbers from inside the pocket but you have to understand that he won't have to in Minnesota. There is Adrian Peterson to take care of the need to go deep. Can you imagine if Reggie Bush would have been drafted by the Falcons when Vick was there? This would be similar. Take the most explosive and possibly versatile back in the league and give him a quarterback who can run a 4.3 and may be more elusive than him and see what happens. Not only would the options be enormous out of the backfield but think of the recievers it would free up. With two guys that can beat an entire defense by themselves at the two most vital positions on the offense you would have secondaries not knowing what to do with themselves. Maybe i'm looking past some of Vick's flaws and thinking he would fit in great but maybe he would. I'm just saying I think they would be better off with a younger, more athletic, more explosive guy who's not going to hold your team hostage at the end of the year. Plus I'm sure he'll take the job for less than 10 million a year. A lot less.

Beckham Mistake

David beckham invites a fan down on the field to fight and when the fan climbs over the rail he gets a lifetime ban from the stadium. Nothing is done to Beckham but that fan can never come to another game. This guy has played for the galaxy and never really did a good job or acted like he wanted to be there. He leaves the team on loan to play for Milan then when it's time to come back to L.A. he doesn't want to play for them. I think the best thing he could do is take some of his huge salary and start his own little league with his own hand picked players that he gets along with and open the games to only family and friends. Maybe no tv station would pick that up and he could just kinda fade away. That'd be good. I mean he was only signed to the galaxy to try to bring the MLS into the sports picture in this country and it's only pissed off fans and gotten one of them banned for life.

Mortgages For Dummies (by dummies)

Does anyone read the New York Times? Does anyone take mortgage advice from the articles in that paper? Well if you do then you might want to switch to a new paper. Thanks to the Colbert Report I now know who Edmund L. Andrews is. He is a journalist for the Times who specializes in mortgage advice and he is in HUGE debt! Turns out he signed for a $400,000 house that he couldn't afford. He then goes as far as to say that love had a lot to do with it and that he was so caught up in starting a new life with his wife and getting that perfect house to start that life in that money wasn't an obstacle for him. He says it was too easy for him to get that loan and that he couldn't have gotten a lot more. His broker told him not to settle for $400k because he could afford it. Maybe his broker should write an article in the Times on how to trick some idiot into getting a huge loan he can't afford so you can make money off of him. I might subscribe to that. I mean I thought this guy wrote advise on mortgages for people so they WOULDN'T get into this kind of situation? I mean should people not rely on the stock tips because there's a good chance they are written by a guy who's really lost tons of money in the market? Dude, learn how not to get into a variable rate mortgage with a payment that you can only afford if nothing bad EVER happens in the market. I think when I'm done writing this I'm gonna forward my made up resume to the New York Times and see if they'll hire me to write advice articles on how to land a space ship with your eyes closed and one hand behind your back...it's not like they'll check my sources.

A Second job

I think the day may have come when I need a second job. I hate to even consider that but there's no other options I can find at this point. It is truly torture when you get paid and all but maybe $150 is spent on the crap you found a way to get yourself into. Now I'm not bad with money. There have been a few I'll fated mistakes recently that have cost me a whole bunch of money in a really little time period. Plus things just cost more now and our wonderful government isn't doing a thing to help that. Why does it cost $60 to fill up my truck? When did $100 a month for a cell phone become "not so bad"? (I do love my phone though). Why do the jeans that aren't even made by the fashionable company cost almost $50? Things are getting out of hand and I can't find the frivolity in me to take a slip on that department store floor with no sign that says slippery when wet and "accidentally" fall and hurt myself. Big court payouts over people not having common sense is a level I just can't go to. Maybe just maybe one day the right person is gonna find my resume in that stack of papers that hasn't moved in months and think "now here is someone who needs a shot". Till then it's working everyday and slowly but surely inching my way along the race that is life. But on the other hand...it could be worse!

Brock "No Class" Lesnar

After watching UFC 100 last night and having some time to think about the way the main event turned out, I have to say that Brock Lesnar has no sense. He won the fight, dominated Frank Mir, with no problem. It's what he did after he won that wasn't so cool. Not only did he get back in Mir's face while he was on the stool getting looked at but he laughs at him then makes an idiot out of himself when talking to joe. He says he's drinking Coors Light tonight because Bud Light doesn't pay him anything, while pointing at the Bud Light logo in the middle of the octagon. He talks about having sex with his wife and gives the fans the bird when he gets booed. Would someone please tell Brock that he's not in the WWE anymore? If we wanted to see some stupid scripted story line drama then we would order wrestlemania. We want to see good fights and good sportsmanship. I'm looking forward to the day that Brock Lesnar gets knocked out. I think I would enjoy that more than seeing Kimbo go down in the first round against Seth Petruzelli again. Moral of the story is: Don't disrespect the fans who pay money to watch you fight, they are the reason you are there. Don't disrespect the main sponsor of the event. They too are the reason you're there. Don't disrespect the other fighters after the fight especially when you win because you will turn into someone that no one wants to deal with on any level. I know Dana White scolded him for how he acted but he never should have done it in the first place. i hope if this happens again that Dana will take some pretty drastic measures to get his point across. Learn some sportsmanship...you are NOT bigger than the sport.

Hollywood's Going Green

Is it just me or could Hollywood be any more obvious with their not so subliminal messages about saving the environment? In the last three or four years the "end of the world" type movies have really gotten a lot of attention. Last night I saw "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage and it wasn't until the end that it hit me...Humans are destroying the earth and god is going to just burn it all up and start over blah blah blah. Now I have no problem with people buying better light bulbs or recycling or even driving those little toy cars that get 1848293 miles per gallon if that's what they want to do. What I don't agree with is when people do it because they think that if they don't then we will all be dead from some huge disaster caused by global warming in the next 50 years. Could Hollywood be more proactive about this? Knowing, The Happening, The Day The Earth Stood Still, I Am Legend. These are all movies that have been released in the last few years and have been geared at either "stop harming the planet" or "the end of the world is coming". I just wish some director would find some originality somewhere way down deep and use it to make a good movie that they think people will enjoy with no little hidden messages or agenda. Wouldn't that be great?

The Dreaded Typing Test

I just got out of my first official typing test since high school and I must say that I cannot remember a time when I was more nervous. I don't know why. As soon as the clock started I was petrified. There was such a sense of urgency that I had to do well that I couldn't concentrate on the paper from which I was reading. If I don't score as well as I want maybe something terrible will happen. It was like I was being judged by some super powerful committee and the results were as important as life or death. My hands were shaking so much I couldn't tell if I was even pressing the keys in all the way. Maybe it was the fact that you must wait 30 days before you can take it again. Those 30 days would seem like an eternity and I just have to do well now. I was putting pressure on myself like never before. What if I don't get the good job because of my average score? What if the instructor reads my results and looks up at me over his glasses and gives me the "maybe next time sport" line that every person dreads? I can't live with that. I will say that I did not get the score I was hoping for but I wasn't far from it. And luckily I got no words of disappointment disguised as encouragement from anyone on the way out. I will be back in 30 days to take it again and hopefully I won't have to place my hands in my pockets on the way in to hide the shaking lol.

UFC vs. Boxing

I love watching UFC and we always have a big thing for the pay per views but sometimes the inevitable question comes up...is it better than boxing? I would have to say it depends on what your definition of better is. There's no arguing that mma is more physical than boxing. You use your entire body and all 4 limbs to strike with. Boxing limits you to throwing punches and nothing else. Boxing also gives you one "big" fight every blue moon. I use the word "big" to describe a fight between people that are popular to not only the boxing community but to the casual fighting fan. I think that if you lined up 20 of the most popular UFC stars and 20 of the most popular boxing stars (currently fighting, not retired) then more regular people would be able to name more UFC guys. Now UFC isn't giving someone a 30 million dollar payout for a main event fight like Floyd Mayweather demands but I do believe it gives you more quality fights on one card than a boxing pay per view. It's also hard to say which sport could do what the other sport does better. I mean if you put Chuck Lidell in a HBO special with Mayweather then I would have to give it to Mayweather but if things are reversed then I cannot pick any boxer over any UFC guy. Some people say "those UFC guys just lay on eachother or stay in one position on the gound for most of the fight". How many times during an average boxing match does the referee have to step in when a guy is tired and simply reaches out and pulls the other guy in and holds him for as long as he can to catch his breath? That is definitely not as acceptable as two mma fighters locking in a submission battle. Even though there isn't much movement they are still working. Popularity is the biggest thing that the UFC has on it's side. There's no arguing that a huge boxing pay per view is going to draw more viewers but the UFC is putting on more pay per views and drawing pretty impressive numbers. In August of 08 ufc.com had more than 800,000 total U.S. unique visitors. boxrec.com was the closest boxing site to that and it had about 100,000 unique visitors (according to compete.com). There's also no hiding that boxing has simply lost some of it's luster over the years. When the supposed best pound for pound fighter in the history of the sport starts making cameos and getting into fights in professional wrestling then you know something's wrong. The same professional wrestling that is losing some of it's best young talent to the mma ie: Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. In this argument I just can't find a leg for boxing to stand on. Pay per view sales have declined, there are less world wide known boxers, boxing really isn't as appealing to the younger demographic, you don't get as many pay per view events per year. I do believe that boxing could have a huge resurgance if there was some young talent that came in and produced a new generation of famous boxers. Someone that the 18-25 year olds are going to be interested in.

...but honestly, what are the chances of that happening?

Congress In The BCS

Congress has been urged to look into the Bowl Championship Series in college football. I am a huge college football fan and i know that the post season has it's flaws but those flaws may not be so easily fixed. There are a lot of people out there who would like a plus 1 system (4 team playoff). So many people think this would be great but it would rarely help the smaller teams that are left out of the national championship picture under the current system. All regular season games are done by the 13th week of the season then we go to the next few weeks of bowl games. If we were to implement a playoff we would have to do it after the 13th week. Since no one is complaining about the idiots that actually rank these teams without watching most of the games lets just use the same BCS rankings that we use now. The top 4 teams would be chosen to be in this playoff. Would this be better for these smaller programs? The answer is no. The top 4 teams at the end of week 13 were 1.Alabama, 2.Texas, 3.Oklahoma, and 4.Florida. Utah was ranked 6th at the end of the season which would have kept them as well as any other undefeated non BCS team out of a playoff. No no...what we need isn't to have congress snooping around to make sure the current system is breaking any anti-trust laws (which it isn't, it was written by a group of anti-trust lawyers and has been challenged and reviewed many times). What we need is some sort of committee that actually cares about college football and pays attention to the games that are played. We need people who will rank games after they have watched them all! The guys we have doing this now put teams like USC and Ohio St. up in the top teams even after embarrassing losses just because they are household names and they are just "better" than the lesser team they lost to. Let's not forget the incredibly easy schedules that these teams have that pave the way for them to be 1 or no loss teams at the end of the year. I say if Orrin Hatch wants to look good for his constituants in Utah then he should look into and seek change of the people doing the ranking and not the computer rankings or eligibility of bowl confrences. The computer rankings are only one third of the final product.

By the way...is there anyone alive who thinks that Utah would have beaten Florida? I mean lets be serious.

Los Angeles Pays For Memorial

Now that the Michael Jackson memorial is over and the traffic is almost back to normal, can anyone tell me who paid for it? It was the city of Los Angeles. The same city that couldn't pay 1 million for a parade when their own lakers won their 4th NBA finals title. The city that's part of the near bankrupt state of California. This memorial cost more than 4 million and the family didn't pay for any of it. Even Michael payed for his own caskett. As expected the city has set up a website for people to make donations to help fund the memorial service but why should the city try to make regular people feel obligated to pay for this memorial? Isn't that the family's job? This thing did make the city money from the all the hotel revenues and eateries that were patronized by the hundreds of thousands of people that flew in to do nothing more than stand outside. Make those people pay to stand. Make all the celebrities who were there pitch in. I'm sure they could cover 4 mil no problem. All I know about donating to this is that I won't be doing it. I wonder where California super celebrities will have their future memorials after the state sells off all the historic and famous venues like the staples center because the state is losing money like never before. Just something they should plan for.

Very first mobile post

I just started my account with blogger.com and installed this cool blog app to my iPhone so now I can pour my opinions and feelings out onto the unsuspecting world any time day or night. This is my first post and has absolutely nothing to do with anything but it's midnight and I'm on the phone so I thought I'd put something up.
